Amisfield Winery Amisfield winery is located 10 minutes drive from Queenstown near Lake Hayes. The property boasts 60 heactares of vineyards (Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc) benefiting from high altitude, cool climate, long summers, and clean soil. The provide concentrated fruit flavour the practise on the vineyards is to keep the yealds really low. The winemaking philosophy revolves around the fact that quality wine is grown not made. Clare Mulholland, aformer winemaker at Isabel, uses indigenous yeasts, distems completely and prefers clarification through gravity to fining or filtration, to preserve the character of the grapes and their natural expression of their origin. Their approach to viticulture embraces sustainable agricultural practices where management inputs work with nature rather than against. 'Grown Not Made' is the underlying philosophy of Amisfield.
