Bodegas Chakana Argentina Chakana, literally meaning "bridge" between the Andean culture and the Modern world in the ancestral indigenous language, is owned by the Pelizatti family. A modern family-owned business encompassing their old family legacy of wine producing that began in Italy. Chakana is located south of the city of Medozza, in the Agrelo Lujan de Cuyo region of Argentina. The 150 hectares estate is home to 35 year old Malbec, Bonarda and Cabernet Sauvignon vines and new have also been planted. The company has a devoted, young and creative spitited team, who hold a deep passion for wine and a sense of pride in belonging to a family-owned enterprise with enterpreneurial character. Chakane is both a social and environmentally responsible wine producer. The company has great respect for the indigenous cultures and traditions in the region and country and cares for the local community. It takes advantage of the year-long sunny and dry conditions allowing almost organic viticultural practices. Drip irrigation systems have been installed to achieve a precise control of vegetative cucles and rational use of water. Chakana has a three tiered portfolio of wines: The Chakana Range - a range of young, fruit driven wines aged in Oak; The Chakana Reserve Range - elegant wines with a balanced expression of fruit and Oak; and the Chakana Estate Selection Range - wines produced with fruit selected from the best vines of the year.
