Prophet’s Rock is a newcomer to the burgeoning Central Otago wine scene, and since its début 2005 vintage this small winery has been making big waves. Its twin secrets of success are superbly located and lovingly tended vineyards, and the talents of winemaker Paul Pujol. Having made wine for top estates in New Zealand, Alsace and Oregon, he is ideally placed to deliver world-class Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir from this exceptional fruit.
Tasting Notes/Products Information
This Pinot shows rich boysenberry, dark cherry, floral and spice aromas giving way to a smooth, dense, well structured palate. Here the rich aromatics are enhanced by silky texture and fresh acidity adding structure before leading on to a long rich finish.
The wine was fermented using indigenous "wild" yeat and matured for 15 months in French oak barrigues. Bottled unfiltered on September 5th 2007.
